What do we do?

We provide the opportunity for young people, both male and female from all backgrounds to enjoy a range of activities both indoors and out, that help them to develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.

Scouting is about encouraging a young persons personal development by providing them with the opportunity to join in, have fun and learn.

By giving young people the chance to think for themselves, work together, take responsibility and enjoy new and exciting activities, in a safe and controlled environment, they learn through doing and develop as individuals.

We strongly believe that Scouting is all about the young people and are continuously moving forward to ensure we can provide them with the best experience we can offer.

To continue to provide adventure to young people in a safe and friendly environment we need adult volunteers. Adults not only benefit from supporting young people, they also gain from developing themselves and learning new skills. There are lots of flexible volunteering opportunities within the Group, from Leaders, to occasional helpers and committee members. Everyone has something to offer and we can always find a role to suit you and your needs, whatever the amount of time you have to give. If you are interested, take a look at our Volunteer page for more information.

Our Mission

To promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The Method of achieving the Aim is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership.

Our Sections

We have four thriving sections within the Group providing the opportunity for any young person aged 6 to 14 to get involved with Scouting.

Our two Beaver Colonies Apollo and Zeus, run the programme for our youngest members, aged 6 to 8. Both Beaver Colonies run fun and interactive activities designed to suit the ability levels of the young people that attend. Thor Cubs provide a programme of activities for young people aged 8 to 10½, the activities at this level progress on from those at Beaver level and provide members that have moved on with new challenges and the opportunity to learn more new skills. Viking Scouts is our oldest section, taking young people aged 10½ to 14. The Scout programme is the most adventurous and where members are given a real chance to work together and practice the skills they have learnt through their time with us.

While it is beneficial for a young person to progress through all the sections, we will happily accept them into any section and they will soon pick up knowledge from others around them.

We have connections with a District Explorer Unit, age 14 to 18, and can link older Scouts with them to allow their Scouting experience to continue to the next level.
