Why do we need volunteers?

We rely on volunteers to run everything in the Group, without them we would have no Leaders, no committee and our facilities would slowly crumble into the ground. The only way we can continue to run a successful Group and continue to offer exciting activities to the young people in the community is by people like you, giving up some of their time to help us out.

What can you get out of it?

It is not all about give give give, we hope that every volunteer gets something back from the time they give to the Group. Whether it is simply a sense of achievement, feeling good about giving something back to the community or developing your own skills and improving your CV, everyone can get something back by becoming a volunteer.

How can you help?

No matter what time you can offer, from an hour a term to a couple of hours a week, we are always grateful for any help and we will find you something to do that fits with what you are willing to give. From fetes to bag packing and running meetings there are hundreds of jobs you can help us with.

If after reading this you are still not sure if you can help then take a look at our how you can help page, where you will find more detailed descriptions on the different roles and what they may involve, or take a look at the video below. If you are still not sure what you can offer, but want to help, then why not Contact Us and we can help find something to suit?

How can you get involved?

Decided that you want to become a volunteer and help us out? Head over to our Join Now page, where you can give us some more details and we can get you involved!

Secretary - The role of the Secretary is to assist the Group Chairperson in the effective administration of the Scout Group in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association. Responsible for the provision of sound administrative support and information to the Scout Group.

Treasurer - The role of the Treasurer is to maintain accurate records of the Group's income and expenditure. As well as being responsible for effectively managing the Scout Groups finances in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association. Responsible for the provision of sound financial support and information to the Scout Group and the Sections within it.

Gift Aid Coordinator - This person would be responsible for administering Gift Aid within the Group. They would need to liaise with Parents and Leaders of all Sections to ensure the correct paperwork has been completed and manage the claims throughout the process.

If you are interested in helping us by filling any of the above positions or want to find out more information, please Contact Us to discuss what this involves.

All of our volunteers have to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau check or CRB before they can get actively involved in supporting the Group. This is to ensure the safety and protection of the young people that we look after. This is a simple process, all you have to do is fill in a form and we do the rest. Unfortunately due to the various levels of checks we cannot accept CRBs from any other organisation.
