Who are we?

Zeus Beaver Colony meet every week, throughout term time and run a fun and exciting programme, which aims to promote the growth and development of the young people that attend. During the Summer months we try to get outdoors as much as we can doing enjoyable and active evenings and getting in touch with nature, trying to go on visits when ever we can. In the Winter our programme is based mostly at the Scout hut, doing badges, crafts, cooking, role play, playing games and much much more.

What do we do?

Our weekly programme is based on the Scout Associations progressive balanced programme which is designed to give young people a broad skill set and learn about everything in the World around them. It includes a range of activities, events and experiences built around six programme zones. It also allows young people with different abilities to get fully involved in what we are doing. This is supported by the Beaver Activity and Challenge badges, which are awarded when a young person completes a simple set of challenges, to find out about the badges available to Beaver Scouts you can visit this link.

We try to keep as busy as we can making the most of local facilities and events put on by the County or District Scouts. Recently we have visited Churchtown Activity Centre, giving the Beavers a chance to try some new activities. We also try to attend The County Beaver fun day at Nine Ashes whenever it is on, a day of exciting activities and a chance to meet other beavers from all over Cornwall.

We also like to take part in Community challenge badges when they are run, such as the Shelter Box Challenge, which consists of 10 activities over 10 months to celebrate 10 years of Shelter Box. Each child who completed the challenge will be awarded with a special Shelter box badge.

If you want to find out more about what we get up to, visit our Activities page.

Why join?

Scouting provides the opportunity for young people to Make friends, try new things, learn, explore, make progress, work as part of a team and most importantly have fun.

Young people experience Scouting by regularly taking part in meetings, activities and events, by getting involved in as much as possible they will develop as individuals and members of the Community, while having fun and learning in a safe and secure environment. Personal achievement is recognised by earning awards and badges leading to the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award, the highest award a Beaver can get.

Who can join?

We welcome any young person between the age of 6 and 8 to attend on a Friday night and join the adventure. Scouting is an organisation that welcomes all backgrounds and abilities and we will try our best to accommodate any child no matter what their needs.
